Acca Sri Lanka Signs MoU With Uva Wellassa University
View(s):The Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) Sri Lanka, is partnering with state universities through a series of MOUs with the aim of preparing local students for the changing job market requirements post pandemic, and in enabling them to become finance & business leaders on a global platform.
With tactical partnerships of this nature, ACCA Sri Lanka also aims to address the current surge in demand for qualified and ethical finance professionals much needed by the nation at present.

As a part of these initiatives, a MoU was signed virtually between ACCA Sri Lanka and the Uva Wellassa University, with the Head of South Asia at ACCA Ms.Nilusha Ranasinghe and Vice-chancellor, Professor Jayantha Lal Ratnasekera of the Uva Wellassa University officially signing the MoU in the presence of key officials from both the ACCA Sri Lanka office and the Uva Wellassa University.
The MoU will help strengthen the opportunity for ACCA to grant exemptions for the graduates and for both the University and ACCA to work collaboratively to develop the accounting profession in Sri Lanka by conducting joint workshops, seminars, research, discussion events and conferences. As such, the MoU will allow students passing out with their undergraduate degree, to gain the globally recognised accountancy qualification of ACCA at the same time, adding more credentials to their portfolio.
Speaking of this initiative, Vice-chancellor, Professor Jayantha Lal Ratnasekera of the Uva Wellassa University stated “this agreement will help our students explore avenues beyond the national boundary. We look forward to empowering our students in adopting and thriving in the accountancy profession by leveraging ACCA’s world-class knowledge and training resources, that will allow our students to build a stronger foundation for their future career path and opening up opportunities from all over the world.”
