USJ MBA/MSc students visit Jaffna
View(s):The MBA unit of the University of Sri Jayewardenepura organised a four-day study tour to Jaffna for the students of the MBA/MSc 2019 batch from 30th June – 3rd July, 2022. The study tour which included a visit to the University of Jaffna, was organised to provide an opportunity for the students to interact and share their experiences with the MBA students of the University of Jaffna. Around 80 students from both the MBA and MSc batches, together with five lecturers and four staff members of the MBA unit participated in the study tour.
The duration of the study tour was three nights and four days, and included visits to the Heritance Hotel Kandalama, Thinnai Hotel, Jaffna and the University of Jaffna.
During the tour, the students and staff attended a programme at Umandawa, Kurunegala which provided insights into leadership styles, best practices, innovative products and experiencing the quality of organic foods. Additionally, a motivational speech was delivered by Mr. Mohan Palliyaguru on how to match company expectations and superior expectations which were co-related to soft skills development. Prof. Rukmal Weerasinghe delivered a lecture on the economic crisis. Prof. Aruna S. Gamage, Coordinator of the MBA/MSc in Management programme accompanied the group.
A cultural event and a fellowship dinner were also part of the program so as to build a network between students, lecturers and MBA staff members. Aitken Spence Travels was the official travel agent for the study tour.
