Ritzbury powers Sir John Tarbat Schools Athletic Championship for 10th season
View(s):Ritzbury, Sri Lanka’s No.1 chocolate brand of CBL Foods International, announced its commitment for the 10th year, coming forward as the sponsor of the 90th Sir John Tarbat School Athletic Championship, with the aim of uplifting standards of sports in Sri Lanka whilst supporting budding athletes.
Standing as the oldest junior and senior athletics meets in Sri Lanka, the Ritzbury Sir John Tarbat Athletic Championship has produced numerous national and international level athletes. As a strong supporter of sports in Sri Lanka, Ritzbury, the sole sponsor of this year’s championship, will power both Senior and Junior Meets which will attract over 18,000 school athletes from over 800 schools.
The Junior Championship of the Sir John Tarbat Athletic Meet commenced from the regional level with the first regional meet at Anuradhapura held on August 30 and 31. This will be followed with the second regional meet on September 22 and 23 at Embilipitiya and will continue with the third regional meet at Bandaragama on September 29 and 30 and October 1.
Athletes who qualify from the regional meets will participate in the finals of the Junior Championship, which will be conducted under four age groups – Under-12, 13, 14 and 15. The Senior Athletics meet will take place from September 13 to 16 at Diyagama, featuring competitors of the Under-16, 18 and 20 age categories.
