“English is simple” project launched by NSB

The National Savings bank with the support ofthe Education Ministry initiated a sustainable development project under the theme “English is simple.”
The project focuses on English education enhancement for school children in grades eight, nine, 10 and 11 of selected 81schools.
The goal of the programme is to reach sustainable development by providing inclusive and high quality education. The bank carried out a research survey and identified that the lowest pass rate is at the O/L exams.
Therefore the bank decided to carry out a pilot project with the help of the Education Ministry to enhance English language proficiency by selecting national schools with a pass rate below 50 percent for English language at the O/L exams held in 2017.
The project would encourage academics, parents and school children in the area to take up the subject with confidence.
