Scholarships for 18 Lankan students to study Hindi
View(s):Eighteen Sri Lankan students have been offered all expenses paid scholarships to study Hindi in India, at the Kendriya Hindi Sansthan (KHS) by the Indian Government.
The scholarships, covering all expenses of travel, academic fees and accommodation borne by the Indian Government, provides a one-year course at the KHS or the Central Institute of Hindi in Agra.
On September 14, Indian High Commissioner Gopal Baglay interacted with the students and highlighted the role of the Hindi language in strengthening the millennia-old cultural ties between India and Sri Lanka. He also gave his best wishes for their stay in India.
Currently, Hindi, is one of the popular foreign languages in Sri Lanka, and is being taught in almost 80 local institutions.
