Deedat Zahira Super 16 7s next weekend
The captains of the 16 participating school team at the launch of the 2022 edition of the competition
Past Prefects’ Association of Zahira College Colombo will organise the Deedat Zahira Super 16 Football 7s Championship for the 16th consecutive time this year which will be held throughout the entire day at the Racecourse ground on October 1.
Due to the current situation in our country, the organising committee has decided to invite schools only from the Western province. Sixteen leading football playing schools from Western province will be part of this prestigious tournament where youngsters will get the opportunity to showpiece their talents in football on a larger scale.
The tournament is played at a venue where international football is played and this will provide the youngsters the opportunity to adhere to the atmosphere of such venues and to play in front of a huge crowd. By organising this annual event uninterrupted, the Past Prefects’ Association of Zahira College expects to provide the youngsters opportunities to perform and catch the eyes of the national authorities. This tournament will be officiated by experts in local and foreign football who are recommended by the Educational Ministry and the Football Federation of
Sri Lanka.
The 16 participating school teams are Al-Hikma College, Colombo, Lyceum International School, Nugegoda, Alethea International School, Maris Stella College, Negombo, Darussalaam College, Colombo, Royal College, De Mazenod College, Kandana, S. Thomas’ College, D.S. Senanayake College, St. Benedict’s College, Gateway College, St. Joseph’s College, Hindu College, Wesley College, Isipathana College and hosts Zahira College
