Move, Burn and Earn with Flash Health

The company has been around for a while. Think of Flash Health as basically a digital healthcare company providing numerous healthcare services islandwide. At its core, though, Flash Health is about providing medicine delivery, medical equipment, and home diagnostic services. The app, available on both Android and iOS has a number of services available. For example, you request medicine/wellness items that you need, along with a description, as long as they are over the counter medication. You can also request substitute medication if the required ones are not available and you can also request for a quotation if you need to do so. You can also request Lab Tests, and even channel a doctor via an audio or video call. You will be charged an amount per call (currently LKR 399/-).
What got me really interested in Flash Health was their latest initiative which rewards you for walking. You’ll need a few prerequisites though. For starters, you’ll need to have Google Fit installed on your Android or iOS device. This is so that Flash Health can use the data from Google Health and sync it in order to track your steps. Since I use Google Fit with my Haylou Solar anyway, that was already set up. Flash Health also requires permission to track your physical activity as well as your location (although the latter is probably to get your location when you’re ordering something).
In terms of how Flash Health’s “Move | Burn | Earn” initiative works, you are eligible to earn up to LKR10 per day. This amount is measured by the amount of steps you walk. Currently, Flash Health consists of 4 tiers. 3000 Steps, 5000 steps, 7000 steps and 10,000 steps. Meeting each step goal will reward you with LKR 3.00, LKR 5.00, LKR 7.00 and LKR 10.00 respectively. So that basically means even if you walk more than 10,000 steps per day, you will only get LKR 10, which is perfectly fine because 10,000 steps is basically the recommended step count for a day.
I did my regular walk which is around 4.2KM and was quite impressed with how accurately the Flash Health app tracked my steps. True enough it did take the data from Google Fit, but props to the developers for making the process extremely seamless. There was no need to manually sync anything. Rather, I would just open Google Fit to check my steps and switch to the Flash Health app and my steps would be perfectly reflected in the app. It did take some time for the credit amount to be added to my current balance but that’s perfectly acceptable and the developers do say that “We advise opening the app once every week at-least. The syncing will happen in the background automatically once the app is opened”. ALthough, my personal recommendation would be to open both Google Fit and the Flash Health app once you’re home after your walk/workout so that your steps can sync to both apps, just to avoid any issues in syncing.
Flash Health’s Raya section is where you can redeem the points or money you have collected for purchases. Realistically though, even if you walk every single day of the week, that’s LKR 70 for the week and LKR 300/310 for the month. While it may not be enough to make a huge dent when you’re paying for something, it does give you a sense of accomplishment. Added to that, there’s a leaderboard where you can compete for steps walked. If you are able to claim a spot in the top three for a particular month, attractive rewards and prizes await you. While there is no indication of what exactly these rewards are, it’s safe to assume that it will be some form of discount or redeemable points via Raya. If you are uncomfortable or you do not wish to share your step activity on the leaderboard, you can choose to do so as well.
If you are in the mood to try out Flash Health and their Move | Burn | Earn initiative, then all you need to do is download their app from the Google Play Store or Apple App Store and start walking.
