View(s):Sam Smith and Kim Petras storm the charts with ‘Unholy’
Sam Smith and Kim Petras have taken the UK singles No: 1 by storm with the track ‘Unholy’. Both artists aged 30, have stepped out of their comfort zones to indulge in the genre of hyperpop and pop rap. Smith has previously confined to power pop ballads and dance while Petras has been associated with EDM and bubblegum pop. ‘Unholy’ was first promoted on the social media platform Tik Tok in August. The single was released on 22nd September. ‘Unholy’ a song about adultery, is British artist Sam Smith’s eight No: 1 song at home. His previous chart toppers are ‘La La La’ with Naughty Boy (2013), ‘Money On My Mind’ (2014),’Stay With Me’ (2014),’Lay Me Down’ featuring John Legend (2015), ‘Writing’s On The Wall’ (2015),’Too Good At Goodbyes’ (2017) and ‘Promises’ with Calvin Harris (2018). For the German born and US based Petras, ‘Unholy’ is her debut UK No: 1 song. Kim Petras began her music career in 2008 after having undergone surgery to fully transition from a male to female in Germany. Petras is due to release a new album titled ‘If Jesus Was A Rockstar’ produced by Max Martin shortly.
Peter Frampton on Farewll Tour Peter Frampton, the guitar legend will be playing while seated on the European segment of his upcoming Finale –The Farewell Tour. The reason is because the 72 year old has been diagnosed with Body Myositis a degenerative muscle disease. The British born Frampton who is best known for the 70s songs ‘Show Me The Way’, ‘I’m In You’ and ‘Baby I Love Your Way’, is expected the commence his tour on 5th November in England, with the final show in Germany on 16th November.
Snoop Dog and Dr. Dre collaborative album to be released in November
Two giants of rap Snoop Dog and Dr. Dre are collaborating on an album that will be released in November. It’s the first time in three decades the two artists are working together on an album titled ‘Missionary’. They reunited earlier this year at the Super Bowl halftime for a performance alongside Mary. Blige, Eminem and Kendrick Lamar.
Steve Lacy enjoys first Top 10 hit
Steve Lacy is enjoying his very first UK top 10 hit with the song ’Bad Habit’. Twelve weeks ago the track began its mercurial journey at 69, before crossing from 11 to No: 9 this week. The US singer and song writer co-penned and produced ‘Bad Habit’. The commercially appealing R&B/ funk pop song is taken from Lacy’s album ‘Gemini Rights’. The video to the song is very simple with Lacy singing to the background of changing colours, with a solitary dog appearing for a few moments.
