Curtin Colombo – Student Life on a Dynamic Campus
View(s):Music is the strongest form of magic. Bringing the joy of music and dance to campus life, the students of Curtin Colombo took the stage to showcase their amazing talents at “Unplugged 2.0” on Tuesday 4 October 2022 at the Curtin Colombo Campus at Nawam Mawatha. With students’ performances in music, singing, and dancing, “Unplugged 02” was an evening to remember.
Curtin Colombo attracts highly talented students; some excel in sports, others in music and drama, still others in creative writing and so forth. Curtin Colombo strives to ensure that these inborn talents are nurtured, hidden talents are brought out, and new ones are embedded.
“Unplugged” has become a sought-after annual event where students demonstrate their talents in public; it is a wonderful opportunity for talent search, talent identification and talent development.
Last year, “Unplugged 01” was a virtual event due to the Covid 19 restrictions on public gatherings. “Having the second staging of the event physically on campus made a big difference, and it was quite awe-inspiring to see the diverse talents of our students”, said Ms Charthri Wijenayake, who oversees student engagement at Curtin Colombo.
This year, the students had the opportunity to work as a team organising and managing the resources to present a most successful talent show.
Thimeth Jayasinghe, a year 1 student at Curtin Colombo, who was the head of the Event Team, said that “UNPLUGGED 2.0” was an excellent experience for him and the entire organising committee, and they looked forward to putting together a bigger event next year.
Being a vibrant and inclusive campus that celebrates diversity of students and their talents, Curtin Colombo is home to exceptional infrastructure and resources that facilitate various extracurricular activities and a rich student experience. Students can join numerous societies, clubs, and associations that develop and enhance leadership, management, and team-working skills.
The sports and recreational programmes at Curtin Colombo are diverse and ensure that there are opportunities for all the students to actively participate.
While pursuing an internationally recognised degree in Engineering, Computing, or Business, from Curtin University in Australia, a high ranked global university, students joining Curtin Colombo are guaranteed a dynamic student life.
