He received his primary education from Hiripitiya Primary School in Veyangoda. He excelled in academics from a young age and scored 172 marks in the Grade 5 Scholarship exam and entered Gampaha Bandaranaike Maha Vidyalaya —where he had obtained 10 A grades at the GCE O/L exams.
Thereafter, he entered Moratuwa University and graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical and Telecommunication Engineering in 2015.
He joined the University of Liverpool for the 2021 academic year and was able to obtain a First Class Master’s Degree through his hard work.
“There were at least 181 students who followed the degree programme from all around the world. I was the only student from Sri Lanka among them, and I was able to get first place,” Sasanka said.
“The graduation ceremony was held recently under the patronage of Peter Clegg, Professor of Medicine at the University of Liverpool, and I was the only one who got the opportunity to address the guests at the end of the graduation ceremony because I received my First Class Master’s Degree. I am happy about that.”
“I have received many job offers from several institutions in England but I intend to return to Sri Lanka and contribute to the development of the country,” he added.
