Business Degree at Curtin Colombo is not business as usual
View(s):Curtin Colombo, the latest addition to the global network of Curtin University in Australia, has expanded its academic operation by introducing a degree in Business offered by Curtin University Business School.
Curtin Business School is recognised as an elite global business school through accreditation by the Association to Advanced Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB) and UN Principles for Responsible Management Education (PRME) and holds the number one position among the top business schools with significant international influence in Australia (Eduniversal Rankings 2021).
Curtin’s business degrees offer a unique learning experience by combining theory with practical study that goes beyond the classroom and out into real business and industry. Students now have the opportunity to study a Curtin University Business degree that develops a broad-based and applied business knowledge at Curtin Colombo.
In the first year of the Business degree program, students explore core competencies in business, learn to use financial information to make informed and responsible decisions, and develop business intelligence and analytical capabilities to interpret data in a meaningful way. Students will complete management foundation units aligned to global trends, and develop skills across marketing, finance, human resources, project management, and strategic management.
A key strength of this degree is the breadth of knowledge imparted. In addition, the students get to study three career-focused business specialisations, namely International Management, Innovation and Entrepreneurship, and Digital Marketing while undertaking practical assignments that develop decision-making and leadership skills.
Student Engagement team at Curtin Colombo organizes internships, networking events, training sessions, and guest lectures to expose students to industry practices and enhance their employment prospects.
The Business Administration degree opens doors to an array of careers in business management/administration; these include branch manager, business administrator, business consultant, operations manager, retail manager, sales manager, and senior manager.
Mrs. Mano Weligodapola, a senior lecturer and course coordinator of Curtin BBA program, highlighted the flexibility of the program; students have the option of completing the full course in Sri Lanka or transferring to Curtin University in Australia as Curtin Colombo offers identical programs and follows the same academic calendar. She also noted that students would be able to save substantial costs while enjoying the benefits of living with one’s family if they decide to complete the full program in Sri Lanka.
The next intake in Business at Curtin Colombo is scheduled for commencement in February 2023 at Nawam Mawatha in Colombo. The students enrolling now will be provided with a comprehensive training to develop the skills necessary to complete the degree program successfully prior to the commencement of the degree program.
