Writers honoured at 65th State Literary Awards Ceremony
View(s):The 65th State Literary Awards Ceremony was held at the BMICH on Friday (28) under the patronage of President Ranil Wickremesinghe.
Forty State Literary Awards and three “Sahitya Ratna” Awards were presented at the ceremony, organised by the State Literary Advisory Council, the Sri Lanka Arts Council, the Department of Cultural Affairs and the Ministry of Buddhasasana, Religious and Cultural Affairs.
Prof. Chandrasiri Palliyaguru (Sinhala Medium), Prof. Kamani Jayasekara (English Medium) and T. Gnanasekaran (Tamil Medium) were honoured by the President with the “Sahitya Ratna” Lifetime Award.
The award for the best independent Sinhala novel was received by Eric Ilayapparachchi for his novel ‘Nakula Muni.’ The award for the best independent English novel was received by Dr. Premini Amerasinghe for ‘Footprints,’ while the award for best independent Tamil novel was presented to Sivalingam Aruran for ‘Adurasalei.’
