Sonna boy’s greatest shot!

By Bandula Jayasekara

On November 23 last year The Sunday Times Sports broke the news to Sri Lanka that Sonna Boy is in love. It created much interest and broke the hearts of many and kept some people wondering.

The story has come to an end and Jayasuriya who blasted his way to pretty Sumudu’s soft heart is a two day old married man today.

Sanath & SumuduSpeaking to The Sunday Times Sports on the eve of his wedding Sanath said “I am happy to get married and settle down but I will be the same old simple man and my marriage will not make any difference to that.” He revealed that his wife will support his career one hundred percent.

The Sunday Times Sports spoke to some girls while Jayasuriya was in cloud nine. Ronnate Asirwatham - Journalist - “I think it’s good that he is married. He needs to take a break and recharge his batteries for the next World Cup”.

Sudeshna Ranmuthugala is a theatre person and a young lawyer. She said “It was high time.

All that hype about his marriage was silly as these matters are intensely personal. I hope that the world is happy now since all speculations have ended”.

Final year Colombo University student Himali de Silva: “It is a ridiculous idea. It is OK if it is good for him and if he can really take care of him.

I don’t believe in cricketers getting married or may be only the married cricketers play well these days. Let’s see the married Jayasuriya”. !

But Sai Thun Bin Ahamed news reader at Capital Radio seems to have a soft spot for Sonna Boy. “I am really happy for him and I have met him a couple of times and he can afford to be proud, but he is extremely simple and sweet”.

Sashika Corea, a 21 year young Montessori teacher said that it doesn’t bother her as long as it doesn’t affect his performance and it didn’t matter who he got married to as the problems will entirely be his.

While wishing Sanath and Sumudu a loving journey let’s watch when the Kiwis and Indians set foot here. Will the man with the steel arms set the pitch on fire?

We are sure he will - he now has Sumudu to punch him with velvet gloves.
