2010-01-27 18:25:29

Defeated Presidential Candidate General (retd.)Sarath Fonseka said today, that there was a plot to assassinate him and said his freedom of movement had been restricted by hundreds of army guards who were outside the Cinnamon Lakeside Hotel in Colombo, where he is staying on.

Fonseka said that the men had attempted to enter the Hotel to arrest him earlier today but were prevented from doing so by the 30 security personnel assigned to him.

He alleged that the Defence Secretary had asked that his security personnel be withdrawn along with the bullet proof vehicles assigned to him as well as the three defenders and the motorbike squad.

“If I come to any harm, the President, and the Defence Secretary will be responsible,” Fonseka told journalists a short while ago.
