Colombo stocks slid further on Thursday where both benchmark indices closed with negative returns, following SEC directives on broker trading, analysts said.
The All Share Index dropped by 28.99 points (-0.57%) to close at 5,019.12, the second lowest level recorded in 2012. The lowest this year was 5,009 posted on February 14. The sensitive Milanka index closed at 4,545.68, a drop of 22.83 points (-0.50%).
Analysts said that despite the marginal fall in interest rates yesterday (3months yield down 41 bp whilst 6 months was down 8 bp), investors remained unmoved.
Despite recording the highest volume of shares in seven days, the market turnover was lower at Rs.296.4 million. Only one crossing was reported for the day. (DEC)
