A woman and her child were killed instantly after they were hit by a moving train at Ganegoda in Mirigama earlier today, police said.
They said the victims were riding a motorcycle when they got caught up in a Colombo-bound express on an unprotected rail crossing.
They were identified as S. A. Thamalai Subasinghe and Chaturanga Dissanayake.
