Sri Lanka stocks plunge amidst heavy deals in hotel sector

Sri Lankan stocks dipped Thursday amidst heavy trading in Eden Hotel Lanka, John Keells Holdings PLC and PC House Holdings PLC, analysts said.

All Share Price Index fell 39.78 points to close at 4,955.91, while the liquid Milanka Price Index dipped 48.15 points to 4,385.81 and the S&P Sri Lanka 20 index  which introduced yesterday  dropped  25.36 points to end at 2,819.87, according to Colombo Stock Exchange provisional  figures.

The total turnover was Rs. 797.24 million, with highest contribution of Rs. 386.37 million rupees coming Eden Hotel Lanka, a stock broker said. 

He noted that there was a speculation in the market that the LOLC Group may have transferred some of their Eden shares within the group.

Eden Hotel shares closed flat at Rs. 29.50 with 12.88 million shares changing hands.
John Keells Holdings, closed at  Rs. 186.00 down Rs. 4.00  on trades of 873,554 shares.(Bandula)
