Lanka safe as quake jolts Indian coast

Officials declared the Sri Lankan coast safe a quake took place off the Indian coast a short while ago.

 

They said the quake measuring 5.8 on the Richter Scale was felt close to the island of Mauritia shortly after 11.00 am today.

 

Today’s jolt comes a day after a quake measuring 6.4 on the Richter Scale struck close to the Aceh Province in Indonesia killing one man who fell off a slope while trying to flee his home in panic.
