Skipper TM Dilshan spearheaded Basnahira Cricker Dundee with a fine all-round performance to hand Kandurata Warriors a 34-run defeat in their SLPL match ended at the R. Premadasa Stadium a short while ago.
Chasing 130 runs for victory Kandurata only made 95-7 in a match that was reduced to 13 overs per-side.
Skipper Thilan Samaraweera made 24 off 15 balls with four boundaries while Thissara Perera followed with a blistering 35 off 21 balls inclusive of three fours and two sixes but the rest of Kandurata batsmen were seemingly off their form.
Dilshan was spot on as he claimed two quick wickets following his rapid knock earlier in the innings.
He finished with figures of 2 for 26 after smashing an unbeaten 66 off just 39 balls to help post 129-3 in their allotted 13 overs.
Dilshan hit seven fours and three sixes to power Basnahira to a challenging total after rain delayed the start.
Basnahira lost opener Daniel Smith in the opening over and they were further hampered after losing Dimuth Karunaratne at 23.
But Dilshan took the pressure on to his shoulders to influence his side with a useful 60-run partnership with Brad Hodge who clobbered 27 off 20 balls.
Fast bowler Sohail Tanvir was effective during the opening spell and finished with figures of 3 for 31.
Kandurata Warriors led by Thilan Samaraweera won the toss and elected to field.
The match began nearly two hours after the scheduled time and the match will be played as 13-overs per side.
