Christmas means...
Suresh de Silva (Stigmata):
"Christmas is a special period of joy, which is rather infectious. Everyone
seems to have this inner sense of happiness. Unfortunately it's also a
time when people are blinded by the bright lights and Christmas trees.
Sure it's a time for celebration, because we acknowledge the birth of Christ.
But it becomes messy when people get too money minded and go overboard
with the celebrations."
Russel Arnold:
"I would say the joy of Christmas is about celebrating the birth of
Jesus. It's a time when we remember that God gave of His love to us and
we try to open our lives to God by lending a hand to the needy during this
season.
Bending down to help others is great exercise...for the heart! They
say that the best way to know God's will is to say 'I will' to God and
Christmas is the ideal time to forget ourselves and practise that a little
more."
Maheshika de Alwis (Winner of Talent
Search, solo singing):
"I definitely don't like the whole commercialised idea about Christmas.
The Christmas cards, lights and decorations don't mean much to me because
they take away from the essence of Christmas, which is about celebrating
Christ's birth and giving of ourselves during the season. Christmas is
all about music as well, because for me it's the most uplifting way of
giving thanks to God."
Otara Chandiram:
"Christmas, for me, is the season of joy. It is a time to be happy and
enjoy the good things life has to offer while appreciating them. Above
all, the spirit of togetherness that the season brings makes it a special
time to spend with one's family."

Andrea Cramer (12 years):
Christmas is a time when we must make some other child happy, especially
a poor child as Jesus loved the poor. We must always remember the meaning
of Christmas. It is the birthday of Jesus and we must share our goodies
with those who do not have them.
