'I do' under olive branches
It was a New Year wedding (January 5th) for fashion designer Andre Estefan
and his lovely bride, model Chulpadmendra and they chose a fairytale setting
on the banks of the Bolgoda lake to celebrate the occasion with close family
and friends.
'I wanted a fairytale theme,' says Estefan, 'a garden wedding in an
unusual location and Half Moon Bay,
a private property surrounded by water on three sides was the perfect setting.'
The couple exchanged their vows under the boughs of a huge olive tree,
fulfilling another of the bridegroom's treasured wishes, to be married
under 'olive branches'. 'The fairytale theme was woven around the bride
for I firmly believe that it is the bride's day,' Estefan adds. They chose
a fleur-de-lys motif that ran through the décor, from the cards
to the cake.
He's designed and organised so many weddings so how did he set about
making it special? 'It was hard to figure that I was the one getting married
this time around,' he chuckles, 'but basically I wanted to enjoy it and
I wanted all our guests to enjoy it.'
Estefan and Chulpadmendra met two and a half years ago, 'on a professional
basis,' he says, with a smile, 'and hit it off immediately.'
The bride wore a romantic strapless silk and glass chiffon dress, adorned
with silk guipure old roses lined with bridal satin. Her going-away was
a fashion statement, a dramatic satin bustier with a wine coloured two
tier skirt.
Not surprisingly, Estefan designed the bridal which was executed by
another well known name in fashion circles, Purnima Abeyratne, a close
friend of the couple. |
