Younger looking skin
We see many creams containing Vitamin A and often people wonder if such
creams are effective as Vitamin A acid in making the skin look younger.
Cosmetic creams that contain plain Vitamin A will not have the same
effect on the skin as topical treatment with Vitamin A acid.
Some cosmetic creams and lotions contain derivatives of Vitamin A called
retinyl esters, such as retinal palmitate. These ingredients are converted
into Vitamin A acid when applied to the skin. It is questionable, though,
whether the amount of retinyl esters converted into Vitamin A acid is enough
to provide the therapeutic effects provided by topical Vitamin A acid.
All anti-aging claims for cosmetic creams should be viewed with skepticism.
Another frequently asked question is how to apply facial creams?
Does it matter how you apply a moisturizing cream? Is it true that the
cream must be applied with upward and outward strokes to prevent sagging
skin?
Experts say it doesn't matter how you apply a cream as long as you do
it gently. You don't want to irritate the skin by rubbing it too vigorously.
Skin sags for reasons that have nothing to do with how you apply your
moisturizer. Aging, sun damage, gravity, loss of muscle tone, genetic predisposition
and other factors are the villains, not the method of application of makeup
or creams.
