Judges wait
three hours for CBK
Continuing the tradition of being punctually late, President Chandrika
Kumaratunga showed up nearly three hours late for the oath-taking
ceremony of the new President of the Court of Appeal, a new Supreme
Court judge and other judges of the Court of Appeal on Wednesday.

Weerasooriya the newly appointed Supreme Court judge, Justice N.
A. C. N. de S. Jayasinghe, the new President of the Court of Appeal,
High court Judge P.Wijeratne and Deputy Solicitor General K. Sripavan,
appointed as judges of the Court of Appeal and their respective
families were kept waiting for nearly three hours.
The ceremony
was due to take place at 12.30, but the President turned up at 3.15
p.m. for the swearing in ceremony.
Earlier in the
week, the President, having invited a group of Vice Chancellors,
Deans and University Administrators to discuss the general issues
faced by universities, kept them waiting for about an hour and a
half prompting them to start a brainstorming session.
