Not only do the winning projects set industry standards for excellence and innovation, but they serve as examples for others to follow."

The website is a very detailed site describing the theme of the Deer Park which is carried by 4 logos called: Tranquillity, Luxury, Adventure and Care. Its animated introduction sets the tone for the site with enchanting images and sounds of Sri Lanka. The home page is captivating with a dream-like picture and a description of the resort.

The many pages of the site gives very comprehensive pictures and information about the various aspects, facilities and services of resort has to offer. It paints a fascinating picture for any prospective visitor to Sri Lanka.

Lalin Jinasena, Senior Marketing Manager of the Deer Park in partnership with Affno (Pvt) Ltd., designed the website. Jinasena went on to say that creating the site required a lot of attention to detail since it was being projected to an international clientele who are used to seeing very high standard websites on a daily basis. To be classed as one of the leading travel sites in Asia is a great achievement for us and an indication of the capabilities that Sri Lanka posses. If we are to compete on a global scale, we must cultivate a belief in high quality products and services, that would match or even surpass the standards of the developed world.

The previous year's winner in the website category was the Hong Kong Tourist Board. Some of the Gold Award winners in other categories this year were Thai Airways, Malaysian Tourist Board, Indian Tourist Board, Singapore Tourist Board and many other such large travel organizations.

The Deer Park is owned and managed by the Jinasena Group, one of the largest conglomerates in Sri Lanka. The resort is located within a 11-acre tranquil jungle bordering the Giritale Reservoir. The architectural style that preserved the serenity of the jungle has contributed to the unique ambiance of peace and tranquillity that is omnipresent at The Deer Park. Its proximity to National Wildlife Parks like Minneriya, Kaudulla and Wasgomuva, provide an ideal setting for a fabulous Wildlife Adventure which the hotel provides. Half an hour from the hotel are the ruined cities of Polonnaruwa, Sigiriya and Dambulla.

One of the unique facets of the Deer Park are its restaurants. Apart from the conventional restaurant, it has two outdoor restaurants. One is a Traditional Sri Lankan style boutique and the other a Jungle Barbecue amongst the trees and streams of the forest. The most exciting dining experience has to be Private Dining, where on request from guests, they lay on dinner in a stunning location with waiters and cooks just for you as you watch the sun go down.

The hotel has 88 rooms, of which 4 are suites. The King Kashyapa Suite is the epitome of luxury. It is a 2 bedroom villa with a private pool, dining room, living room complete with DVD and a music system and a butler to see to every need.
