Double acting
An arrest warrant has been issued on a top South Indian film star's
brother for alleged bigamy in a second marriage to a Sri Lankan
woman.
The Acting Matale
Magistrate Ivor Wijesekera on an application from the Colombo Fraud
Bureau on Friday issued a warrant for the arrest of the suspect
Raju Radha an Indian businessman based in Sri Lanka.
Mr. Radha is
the son of the famous M.R. Radha and brother of Radhika, a leading
South Indian actress and producer of the TV series 'Sithy' which
is now being telecast on a local channel.
The application
for his arrest was made, subsequent to an investigation conducted
by the Fraud Bureau on a complaint made by businesswoman Kushani
Nanayakkara whom he married for the second time in 1991.
Ms. Nanayakkara
complained to the Cinnamon Gardens Police, who later handed over
investigations to the Fraud Bureau, stating that whilst being married
in the UK to one Pamela Drew since 1983, he had married her in Matale
falsely disclosing his name as Raju Radha when in reality, he was
known as Madras Raju Gopal Raju Gopal.
The police say
Mr. Radha, Chairman of a shipping company, is alleged to have given
a false declaration to Immigration authorities to do business here.
