Will Young lighting fires
It was a low key ceremony when former All Saints memberNatalie Appleton married the Prodigy's Liam Howlett on Friday, June 7. The wedding took place in Les Adrets in the South of France attended by a few people. Among them were Natalie's sister and former group member Nicole who was accompanied by boy friend Liam Gallagher of Oasis and Dave Stewart of the Eurythmics. The nuptials were followed by a low key meal at a nearby restaurant.

The late king of rock'n'roll Elvis Presley may break the Beatles record for the most number of UK No. 1 singles next week.

A remix of Presley's 'A Little Less Conversation', was released on Monday, June 10. If the song reaches the top of the chart, it will be after a break of 25 years. The Beatles notched up 17 No. 1 songs in the UK. Presley's new release originally appeared on the B side of one of his singles in 1968. The remixing of 'A Little Less Conversation' was executed by Dutch DJ-Tom Holkenborg.

The No.1 song in the UK remains unchanged this week. Will Young's rendition of 'Light My Fire', held on to the top spot for a second week as most record companies did not want to release new singles owing to the Golden Jubilee holidays. 'Light My Fire', became the first No.1 in six weeks to be able to occupy the top spot for more than a week.

While Will Young held on to the No.1 position, US rapper Eminem also managed to retain the No.2 position with his song 'Without Me.' Last week the gap between both songs was very wide, but according to reports the margin has been reduced to between 12,000 copies.

Next week Will Young's 'Light My Fire' will feel the heat from new releases such as Elvis Presley's 'A Little Less Conversation' and Kylie Minogue's 'Love At First Sight.

The highest new entry on the UK singles chart this week was 'Be Cool' by the German outfit Paffendorf which entered at No. 7. It's the debut hit in the UK for the Cologne based four-piece group. The song is a typical dance hit with a European electronic accompaniment coupled with breathless female vocals and a good melody. The group have been on the music scene since 1995. Before 'Be Cool', Paffendorf were able to score two huge hits in Europe in 2001 with 'Rhythm & Sex' and 'Where Are You'. Both songs have sold over 200,000 copies in Europe.

Another dance track 'Dove (I'll Be Loving You)' by Moony entered the chart at No. 9. This disco track is a kind of continuation of the No.7 entry this week. Singing 'Dove' is Italian artiste Monica Bragato who is professionally known as Moony. Monica who hails from Venice was credited for DB Boulevard's No.3 of March this year titled 'Point of View'.

Checking into the chart at No.16 is '3 Lions' by Baddiel/Skinner/Lightning Seeds. The song was the official England World Cup song in 1998. It has got a new lease of life although it is not the official song for the current England team. It was released by the Lightning Seeds for the European Championship in 1996. It became a No.1 song twice in May and July of 1996. It was re-recorded with new lyrics for the '98 World Cup and went to No.1. For 3 weeks during the World Cup, the song reigned in June 1998.

The same version perhaps with some nostalgia has been brought back into the market.

It has been revealed that Australian pop star Holly Valance who currently has a hit song called "Kiss Kiss" is the cousin of the late British comedian Benny Hill. The connection is through Holly's grandfather Hugh Steven who emigrated to Australia. Benny Hill, famous for the shocking "Benny Hill Show," knew Holly as a little girl. Hill died in 1992. He was a singer himself scoring a No.1 with "Ernie (The Fastest Milkman In The West)" in December 1971.
