Kelly in another court case In the latest
twist to the R. Kelly saga, agent Charles Freeman is suing him for
$ 75,000. This is because Kelly had agreed to pay Freeman $ 110,000
plus another $ 40,000 in return for the video which allegedly contained
the incriminating evidence. Freeman maintains
the offer for the tape and other aspects of the contract was agreed
at $ 65,000. Kelly who is
facing 21 charges of child pornography including having sex with
a 14-year-old girl is due to appear before the Chicago Cook County
Criminal Courthouse on August 7. Kelly seems
to be confident that there is no case against him. Paul Cettermole
is to leave the very successful pop group S Club 7 next month. Cettermole
is leaving the group to pursue his dream of becoming a heavy rock
star. Meanwhile, fellow S Club 7 member Hannah Spearitt is reported to be delighted that her boyfriend Paul Cettermole is quitting the group, so that they can have a normal relationship. The couple have been together for a few years. Gareth Gates'
Anyone of Us (Stupid Mistake) is No. 1 for a second week in the
UK. The song has sold over 100,000 copies and has been certified
with a Gold disc. Of course,
there is some rumbling in the UK over the alleged preferential treatment.
Gates has been receiving over people's choice Will Young. As winner
and runner-up in the Pop Idol contest, both stars were contracted
to S Records, a division of RCA. The label has however dismissed
reports of Gates being given any special treatment. Both Gates
and Young will release debut albums in a few weeks. Will Young's
album will be out the same week fellow RCA stable artiste Elvis
Presley's compilation album hits the shelves. The highest
new entry of the week was at No. 3 by Flip and Fill's Shooting Star.
They spent two years with the bootleg release of True Love Never
Dies to finally take credit for a legitimate release. Shooting Star
is a mixture of hard house beats and trance with female vocals.
The song is based on the old song Bang from 1997. Sir Elton John
returns to the UK chart at No. 4 with opera singer Alessandro Safina
with a reworking of Your Song. It was Sir Elton's very first chart
hit in the UK when it peaked at No. 7 in 1971. This was the song
that revealed Elton's song writing partnership with Bernie Taupin.
Reports today
suggest Sir Elton does not much care for the song these days. It
was featured in Baz Luhrmann's movie Moulin Rouge as actor Ewan
McGregor and opera star Alessandro Safina covered it. The release
currently in the chart is once again based on Buz Luhrmann's arrangement.
Your Song by Sir Elton and Safina was recorded for the Sport relief
charity telethon. This is not
the first time Elton John has recorded with an opera star. In 1996,
the duet Live Like Horses with Luciano Pavarotti peaked at No. 9. Beyonce from
Destiny's Child claims her debut solo hit with the track Work It
Out at No. 7 from the movie Austin Powers: Goldmember. The track
is produced by Pharrell Williams and Chad Hugo. Beyonce also acts
in the film. Her song follows
Madonna's Beautiful Stranger which was featured in the first Austin
Powers film The Spy Who Shagged Me. Fun Lovin'
Criminals member Huey Morgan was involved in a fight with another
man breaking the man's nose over the weekend in London. The incident
took place at the Bada Bing Strip Club after a lap dancer left his
party to dance for another man. Morgan who was after liquor and
cheering at the time with his friends had his eye on the lap dancer.
Morgan and
his victim shouted at each other ending with Morgan head butting
the other breaking his nose. No charges followed the clash. Veteran rocker
Ozzy Osborne
had to be sedated on Thursday, July 18, by a doctor after he got
hysterical when informed his wife Sharon's cancer had spread to
her lymp nodes. She had undergone surgery for colon cancer early
this month. The former
Black Sabbath member said his wife had been a pillar of strength
for him for years. Meanwhile, as MTV films the 2nd Fly On the Wall series The Osbornes shortly, Sharon Osborne's cancer battle will be included in the script.
