Bala asked to
come the proper way
LTTE chief negotiator Anton Balasingham is due to visit the Wanni
again this month but he wants to come in a way "that is in
keeping with his dignity", government sources said.
They said Minister
Milinda Moragoda during talks with Dr. Balasingham in London recently
had assured that the government would make arrangements for the
LTTE negotiator to fly to Colombo, Sri Lanka's only international
airport, and provide a helicopter for him to proceed to the Wanni.
Dr. Balasingham had agreed to consider the offer.
Government sources
said before arriving in Colombo, Dr. Balasingham will fly from London
to Oslo for another round of talks with Norwegian facilitators.
For an earlier visit, Dr. Balasingham had taken a normal flight
from London to Male and then boarded a Norwegian chartered sea plane
for a direct landing in the Iranamadu tank of the Wanni.
Sri Lankan immigration
officials went to the Wanni to validate his arrival papers. Dr.
Balasingham took a controversial flight back to Male on a sea plane
from the Wanni.
