Atomic Kitten on a high
Atomic Kitten swept into the No. 1 position of the UK singles chart this week with 'The Tide Is High (Get The Feeling)'. It's a welcome success for the all-girl group after their last single 'It's Ok' peaked at No. 3 in May.

The new No. 1 is the second chart topper from the group's forthcoming second album 'Feels So Good'. The first single from the forthcoming album 'Eternal Flame' to reach the summit, 'The Tide Is High (Get The Feeling)' is overall the third hit No. 1 for Atomic Kitten.

'The Tide Is High' was originally a reggae song recorded by Paragon but became a No. 1 in the UK for the band Blondie in 1980.

Atomic Kitten's version is not just a copy. They have given it a pop twist and then midway break into a new song called 'Get The Feeling'. That's good work by the producers rather than simply getting the girls to record another cover version.

Enrique Iglesias' new song 'Love To See You Cry' checks into the chart at No. 12. 'Love To See You Cry' is the third release by Enrique and his lowest chart position to date.

Madonna's theme song for the new James Bon film 'Die Another Day' will be relased on November 12.

Meanwhile the ''queen of pop" is hard at work on her new album. Reports suggest the 41-year-old singer is working at a London studio with French producer Mirwais. She worked with him on her last album 'Music' in 2000 which was very successful.

The new Madonna album should be out sometime next year.

The track listing of the U2 greatest hits collection 'The Best of 1990-2000' was revealed on Monday, September 2. It will cover five albums - 'Achtung Baby', 'Zooropa', 'Passengers: Original Soundtracks 1', 'Pop' and 'All That You Can't Leave Behind'.

It will feature two new tracks 'Electrical Storm' and 'The Hands That Built America'. The track 'Electrical Storm' will be released in October.

There will also be a limited edition CD titled 'The Best Of The B-Sides'.

Ms. Dynamite entered the UK singles chart at No. 3 with 'Dy-Na-Mi-Tee'. It's a catchy tune by one of the UK's hottest R'n'B female acts. It's a lightly produced track and the second top 20 hit for Ms. Dynamite whose last single 'It Takes More' peaked at No. 7 in June.

Sexiest Man In Jamaica' by Mint Royale checked into the chart at No. 20. They are the same remixers and producers who transformed Terrovision's 'Tequila' into a club hit a few years ago.

In February 2000 Mint Royale got TV host Laren Laverne to sing on 'Don't Flatter'. The song peaked at No. 15.

On the current hit 'Sexiest Man In Jamaica' they selected Prince Buster to do the vocals. Buster's only solo hit was 'Prince Buster' which reached the No. 18 spot in 1967. He just missed the Top 20 in 1998 when his song 'Whine And Grind' peaked at No. 2 since it was used for the TV commercial for Levis Jeans.

Axel Rose of Gun N' Roses told fans not to expect the new album 'Chinese Democracy' in the immediate future. He says more work has to be done on the album. He intends to tour the US once the album is completed. Axel Rose played at several venues in the UK ending on Monday August 26 at the London Arena.

Another album that is scheduled for release is a greatest hits collection is the Manic Street Preachers.

The Welsh hard rock band will release 'Forever Delayed' in October. Two new tracks 'There By The Grace Of God' and 'Down To The River' will be featured on the 20 track album.

'There By The Grace Of God' was aired on BBC's Radio One on Monday, September 2. The other new track 'Down To The River' was made available on the band's official website for downloading on Tuesday, September 2.
