I'm no kitten, I'll take 500 with me - CBK
President Chandrika Kumaratunga said on Friday " Chandrika is not a kitten," and vowed she would hit back hard and take 500 with her if they tried to destroy her.

"If they try to assault me, I will use my powers. I have not yet used my powers. If they hit me I will hit back. If they come to attack me I will use the powers at my command. If they come to kill me I will kill 500 before dying. This Chandrika will not die like a kitten," she said at the 19th Hector Kobbekaduwa memorial meeting in Yatinuwara. "This Chandrika is not afraid to die. I do not mind dying for the sake of my country," she pledged.

Referring to the 19th Constitutional Amendment which intends to curtail her powers, Ms. Kumaratunga said, "Now they are trying to bring some 19th Amendment and clip my wings."

"This is a crazy constitution. This was changed 16 times. They are trying to clip the wings after 25 years. They are now working to give Ranil Wickremesinghe wings," she said.

"I allowed them to use all the powers belonging to the President. They used all that and now they are trying to clip the wings of the President," she further said. President Kumaratunga also attacked the media saying they were blowing up government deeds and underplaying or ignoring its misdeeds.
