JVP seeks clarification
on CBK's remarks
By Shelani Perera
The JVP is to take up with President Chandrika Kumaratunga remarks
reportedly made by her regarding the JVP at a meeting last week.
Addressing SLFP supporters in Tangalle President Kumaratunga reportedly
said that although the PA worked with the JVP she has no faith in
it.
JVP General
Secretary Tilvin Silva told The Sunday Times his party would not
take a decision based on media reports but instead would ask the
President to clarify her remarks.
"We have
not asked for an appointment over the remarks, but when we meet
next we will seek clarification. We are not saying the media made
up the story but we prefer to ask the President" he said.
Mr. Silva said
the party would not take such comments lightly but at the same time
would not allow them to be an obstacle when working for a common
agenda. President Kumaratunga last week addressing SLFP supporters
reportedly said the JVP had taken up arms like the LTTE.
"No point
saying it anew. You know how it was during the 88-89 terror period"
she had said.
