'Ezra
in Concert', a cricketing musical extravaganza, will be held at
the Bishop's College auditorium on September 24 at 6.30 p.m.
Popular band
Ezra will be in action with some of the top cricketing stars in
the world.
Shaun Pollock,
Jonty Rhodes, Nicky Boje, Gary Kirsten, Boeta Dippenaar, Carl Hooper,
Ridley Jacobs, Steve Tikolo, Henry Olonga and our own Russel Arnold
and 'Little Kalu' will be out there to meet their fans and to dance
to the beat of Ezra'.
Digital
touch for Classic silent films
A rare
chance is now on at the Goethe Institute in Colombo to see classic
silenct films and its history.
These films
are digitaly improved will be on till November 12 at 6.30pm. See
the astonishing recent digital re-makes of famous silent classics
with orchestra accompaniment. One of them, METROPOLIS, will also
be presented as a highlight with live accompaniment by Sri Lanka's
own Harsha Makalande and Ravibandu. All films with original intertitles
will be with additional English subtitles. Introduction of all screening
will be done by Tissa Abeysekara.
He will touch
in brief on the history and the impact of an era on the arts, architecture,
literature and lifestyles. Admission is free to the public.
'Independent
square' at 'Rhythm & Blues'
'Independent Square' will come alive at the 'Rhythm Blues',
popular night spot in town, on September 27 at 9.30 p.m.
The band will
sing some of the new songs from their soon to be released new album
'Five and Half'.
The boys enjoy
the success of their debut album 'Bring Back the Sun' a few years
ago. Songs like 'Anger', 'Poison on Tray' and 'Egocentric' are very
popular among rock fans and hit the Lankan charts last year.
'Independent
Square' will play some of the cover versions, and mix versions along
with their originals. The band is popular for their rock music.
'Independent Square' comprises Niroshan on drums, Anil on vocals,
Op on guitar, Malinda on guitar and Sunil on bass. The boys will
be busy putting final touches to their second album. This is their
fourth year in the Lankan music scene.
