Atapattu bats sedately
for 74
KIMBERLEY, South Africa, Oct 26 (Reuters) - Marvan Atapattu batted
with great determination to remain unbeaten on 74 as Sri Lanka went
on to make 166 for four wickets at the close on the second day of
their four-day tour match on Saturday.
This was in
reply to South Africa A's 483 for 4 declared. Mahela Jayawa-rdena
too showed great concentration to score 60 while skipper Sanath
Jayasuriya made 24.
Peterson bowled
a hostile length for South Africa A to claim the wickets of Mahela
Jayawardena and Sanath Jayasuriya for 37 runs in 15 overs.
Sri Lanka are
taking this game seriously as they have to master the fast tracks
in South Africa. They will take on South Africa in the first Test
on November 7.

ko's CH to enter final
Sri Rahula, Royal, Ananda and Isipathana
in schools semis

The first four semi finalists of the schools category and the first
semi final of the inaugural inter club and inter-schools knock-out
rugby tournament for the Premier Champions Trophy took place yesterday
at the Sugathadasa Stadium.
In the schools
section Sri Rahula, Royal, Ananda and Isipathana won their respective
matches to advance to the semi-finals while CR and FC entered the
final of the inter club competition.
In the first
game played yesterday which was the Under 13 encounter between Sri
Rahula and St Johnís the former registered an easy 29-0 win.
In the Under 15 category Royal beat Thurstan 7-0. In the Under 17
encounter Ananda overcame the fancied Wesley by 13-3 while Isipathana
had no difficulty in brushing away Dharmaraja 20-3 in the Under
19 semi final.
CR and FC having
by a slender 10-8 went to on to win win against CH and FC with the
final score being 18 points (one goal, one try, two penalties) to
16 (two tries, two penalties)
The second semi
final scheduled for today -3.00 p.m. Under 13: Isipathana vs Dharmaraja.
3.30. p.m. Under 15: Wesley vs St. Sylvester's 4.15 p.m. Under 17:
Prince of Wales vs Isipathana. 5.30 p.m. Under 19: St. Peter's vs
Science College. 7.00. p.m. Inter-Club: Army vs Police. The winners
of these games will play in the finals scheduled for November 2
(Saturday)
