Another 'unbreakable'
hit in the Westlife saga
Canadian
fans of the rock band Guns N' Roses reacted violently to the cancellation
of a concert in Vancouver.
The concert
was scheduled to be held in North America, but when fans were informed
of the show's cancellation they revolted throwing barriers at the
police and windows of the office at the concert venue.
The concert
had to be cancelled because Axl Rose could not make it after his
plane was grounded at Los Angeles airport due to poor weather.
Meanwhile police
had to use pepper spray on the rioting mobs and dogs as well.
Guns N' Roses
however managed to stage their second concert on Friday, November
8 in Tacoma, Washington.
The Rock N'
Roll Hall of Fame based in Cleveland, Ohio will induct the Australian
rock band AC/DC and US acts the Righteous Brothers and Bill Medley.
Also at next year's event will be the induction of the UK acts,
the Clash, the Police, Elvis Costello & the Attractions.
Groups or individuals
are considered for induction only 25 years after they have released
their first record.
Westlife notched
up another chart topping song this week 'Unbreakable'. The single
is taken from the Irish boy band's Greatest Hits collection. Once
again Westlife has opted for the old formula of harmony filled ballads,
unlike their last two uptempo releases. Their last release 'Bop
Bop Baby' peaked at No. 5 - the lowest chart performance for the
group.
Out of 12 singles
released, Westlife has scored 11 No. 1 hits in the UK. The first
10 were consecutive chart toppers. The group is now placed fourth
in the table of the most chart topping songs. Elvis Presley leads
with 18, the Beatles with 17, Sir Cliff Richard with 14, Westlife
with 11 and Madonna 10.
Country singer
Shania Twain is back in the chart after three years. Her newest
release "I'm Gonna Getcha Good", entered the chart at
No. 4. Shania and song writing husband Mutt Lange took country music
into the mainstream with the album 'Come On Over'. It spawned five
top 16 songs.
The new track
'I'm Gonna Getcha Good' is apparently not overdone - just ideal
giving Twain her second biggest hit of her career.
There were
all kinds of stories about her private life but it will only be
Ms. Twain who will be able to throw some light on them eventually.
Dannii Minogue
has a new entry in the chart at No. 7. She last had a hit a year
ago. Her latest entry is 'Put The Needle On It'.
Last year she
was featured on Riva's 'Who Do You Love Now'. She sticks to the
dance formula adopted in 1997. Dannii, the younger sister of Kylie
has now notched up six Top 10 singles. Once again there is talk
about the two sisters recording a duet. Let's wait for that day.
The last release
from Britney Spears' current album has reached the UK chart. 'I
Love Rock N' Roll', checked in at No. 13. The song is a cover of
US rock band the Arrows recording of 1970. It became a huge hit
for Joan Jett & the Blackhearts as it reached No. 4 in the UK
in 1982. That was apparently a very good rendition. The riff from
that version figured out on Five's 'Everybody Get Up'.
Britney Spears
is now taking a long break from the scene.
