While the controversy rages on

While the controversy over the insider dealing crisis at the Securities and Exchange Commission rages on, its director general Dr. Dayanath Jayasuriya seems to enjoy a word with Finance Minister K.N. Choksy last Thursday at the ceremonial launch of the Asia-Pacific market regulators meeting. Choksy has not accepted the resignation submitted by Jayasuriya after he was gagged following revelations that the SEC was probing insider dealing allegations against its own chairman Michael Mack. The acting chairman of the SEC, Nihal Jinasena, whose role itself has been criticised over doubts about the validity of his appointment, (inset) was also present. Pic. by J.Weerasekera.
