the readers of TV Times.
The multi award
winning, million selling superstar returns with a brand new album
UP! Shania Twain is back on airwaves with a brand new album UP!
Her first in three years, and already the reaction from her fans
is a huge..... yes! UP! is preceded by the smash 1st single "I'm
Gonna Get You Good" written by Shania and Robert "Mutt"
Lange (husband/producer) this track is a continuation of her astounding
global success with her last album 1999's 'Come On Over' which notched
up a staggering 34 million sales. Known for her quirky videos that
have seen her walking in the desert in leopard print and singing
with a band of muscle bound men, this video is no exception. The
video sees a space age Shania leather clad and battling with aliens.
As a treat
to her fans UP! is released as a pack of two - for the price of
one. The contents of the album are two CDs/MCs called the Red album
and the Blue album. The Red album is the original album UP! featuring
19 brand new infectious pop tracks including the catchy first single
"I'm Gonna Get You Good". Now hold your breath.... the
Blue album contains remixes of the original 19 tracks remixed by
Indian born UK based DJs known as Simon and Diamond who were in
India to have the remixes done at a studio in Mumbai. The remixes
are purely Indian flavoured with an array of Indian musicians/instruments
filled in.... Yes Shania Goes Indian!!!
Recorded entirely
in Mumbai, India, the album features the talents of musicians like
Rakesh Chaurasia on flute, Raju Sardar and Shaikh Javed Mumtaz on
dholak, Sunil Das on sitar, Hansraj Bhawralji Jawda on violin, Ulhas
Bapat on santoor, Madhukar Dhumai on shehnai, Laiqth Ali Khan on
sarangi, Firoz Shah on harmonium, to name a few, and the vocals
of Dayal Thakar. British-Indian musicians Simon and Diamond Duggal
produced and played on the Blue version of the album.
The album is
currently at Number 1 on the US charts, and has also recorded the
second best first week sales for the year 2002 (874,000 copies in
the first week). It is clear that UP! is a perfect blend of eastern
and western melodies, proving that music is indeed a universal language.
The double
album 'UP' by Shania Twain is now available for Rs.1300/- at all
M Entertainment authorized dealers.
