St. Patrick's Day at Clancys'

Popular Australian band 'Whiskey Angels' and saxophonist Andy Thompson will come alive at Clancy's from March 16 to 30.

'Whiskey Angels' and Andy will be featured at Clancy's specially for St. Patrick's Day which falls on Monday, March 17.

'Whiskey Angels' is based in Australia and specialize in Irish Music. They play Soul, R & B and rock n'roll.

Saxophonist Andy Thompson is a famous musician, who had backed Elton John, Chuck Berry, Joe Cocker, Olivia Newton John and many top Aussie singers on their tours, live.

Their tour is sponsored by Pepsi and Corona.

'2-TogetherR' for five years

Highly talented duo '2-TogetherR' comprises Riza Deen on vocals and Thushara Kuruwitage on Keyboards is successfully heading to celebrate their fifth anniversary in April 2003.

"Our main objective for this year is to celebrate the anniversary with releasing few of our originals. Thushara has composed a couple of originals and we both handle the vocals." Riza said.

According to Riza, they started '2-TogetherR' in 1998, as a western band, with full of hotel contracts. " But somehow we changed our style and started to play all type of music and now we are capable of handling any type of audience in western/eastern or oriental music." he said.

"With the achievement of that standard, we are in much demand for private parties and functions. Thushara is capable in backing popular artistes at any given time." he said

Thushara has already success with an original hit song "Jeewithe" which is currently a chart hit in Swarnawahini's "Heart Beat" programme.

Currently performing on contract basis at Tangerine Beach Hotel, Kalutara on Mondays, Royal Oceanic Hotel on Wednesdays and Ritz Casino Club on Thursday, the duo is well received by the foreign clients. Also they are on contract with Three Coins' "Beer Promotion Theme Night Performances" at different venues.

Misty to rock Down Under
A grand musical extravaganza followed by 'Cricket Cup Fever' a dinner dance in Melbourne, Australia will come alive on March 21 and 22.

The musical concert featuring band Misty with Sunil, Dalreen Nirosha and Rajiv Sebastian well come alive at the Springvale Town Hall on March 21 at 7.00 pm.
This concert is organised by Australia-Sri Lanka Frendship Society and sponsored by Indran Niles of Ceylon Shipping Lines (Australia) Pvt. Limited and Skyway Travels in Melbourne.

'Cricket Cup Fever' dinner dance will feature Sri Lanka's top entertainers - Sunil, Dalreen, Rajiv and band Misty on March 22 at Moorabbin Town Hall.

Indran Niles has organised musical events Down Under bringing Sri Lankan musician and singers from time to time. Popular Desmond de Silva was the very first to perform in 1985.

Chity's 'Faro' ready to explode

"Faro', a German based rock band is planning to release their debut album in June this year.

Chitral Somapala of 'Friends' fame, who is the live wire of band 'Faro' has sent a set of new information about their band specially to TV Times last week.

'Faro' comprises Daniel Florce on drums, Frank Rohles on guitar, keyboards and vocals, Chitral on vocals and Peter Han on bass.

The album 'Dawn of Forever' is produced by Markus Teske, who has worked with Vanden Plas, Ian Parry's, 'Consortium Project', Symphony X, Sheela, Michael Sadler (SAGA) and many other German musicians.

FARO is a new musical project that takes its shape from a collaboration of seasoned musicians. They intergrate various influences and an exotic bouquet of styles and braid them all into the never-again grand sound of Melodic Hard Rock. FARO's main-man is the charismatic lead singer Chitral "Chity" Somapala, who is well known as the lead singer of the melodic progressive metal band 'Avlon'. Chitral born to a famous musical family and is a well respected artiste. The drummer, Daniel Flores, is known for his appearance in Swedish progressive band Mind's Eye.

Their debut album is scheduled for release in June 2003 thru MTM Records world-wide. The "T" in MTM stands for Thomas Hassler, World and European Soccer Champion, who played 101 times for the German soccer team. Thomas is an avid collector of hard rock and melodic rock album.

"Chitral Chity Somapala, the charismatic lead singer, delivers with tremendous agility and edge. Now in Germany, he has many references in the International Hard Rock/Metal scene. Known for his work with the German Power/Progressive outfit Avalon. He also contributed the song "Greenlands" which was written/performed by him and co-written by Frank Rohles for the Isipathana International Rugby Championships in Sri Lanka.

Frank Rohles, plays guitar and sings as well. He plays with a unique sound, a quite distinguishable style. His musical career spans over quite a few years. He is known as a session musician and a songwriter/composer. Born in Spain, he plays on various Rock Projects in Germany.
