More than 1000 tax defaulters show up

More than 1000 tax and customs declarations have been made since the introduction of the tax amnesty last month and there are more coming in every day, Finance Minister K.N. Choksy told The Sunday Times.

Mr. Choksy declined to quantify how much the declarations amounted to in rupee terms, on the basis secrecy needs.

He said that not all of the declarants have made their declarations in money terms, as several of them had asked to meet either the Tax Chief or the Customs Chief.
