Musical
Tribute to Malani
Forty
years of dedicated service rendered by Malani Fonseka to the Silver
Screen has not only gained popularity, but won the hearts and confidence
of many of her fans. She gained wide appreciation and she was really
fortunate and deserving to have been crowned the queen of the silver
screen.
In recognition
and appreciation of all the contributions she made for the film
industry, Lucky Deva of Goden Chimes has composed a special song
titled 'Malaniye' and presented it to her at Elphinstone on the
day of one of the felicitation ceremonies. A special feature of
this song signifies the different films which proves that she is
a jewel of an actress.
"While
listening to a song sung in appreciation of Marilyn Monroe, I wondered
as to why a song has not been still composed in recognition and
appreciation of Malani Fonseka. Hence this came to my memory, and
then I composed this song an year ago. During this time I happened
to meet Malani and her husband Lucky. I mentioned that I have composed
a song exclusively for Malani, and they were highly impressed. I
consider that I am proud and privileged have got the opportunity
of presenting this on this special occasion", Lucky Deva explained.
This particular
song of mixer rhyme and rhythm of 1970's composed by Lucky was aired
on Sirasa TV very recently together with few selected cuts from
Malani's films.
Lucky Deva
confessed that although he has composed a large number of songs,
this song in particular was a special achievement for him. Each
time we hear this song, Malani's image will live forever.

'Pappa
& Children' : Theme of the new hit song
By Sanath Weerasuriya
'Pappa Samaga Doo-daru Kela' is the latest song to hit
the small screen. This is a song that is presented by T.V. Rupavahini
and connected media and this is different from the songs which are
usually connected with love, sorrow and sob based songs.
'Papa Samaga
Doo-daru Kela' composed and sung by Lalith Anthony Perera . This
is the title song of the Lalith's debut CD, which was an instant
hit. The CD comprises four songs . 'Pappa', Katta Kaluware', 'Sandawe'
and 'Muhudu Relle' are the songs created and sung by Lalith himself.
Among the songs
sung praising motherly /fatherly qualities, this unfolds a character
of a father who had sacrificed his entire life and wealth for the
sake of his children but ultimately ruined his life.
Lalith Perera,
who is a Singer, Artiste and a Musician, has years of experience
behind him. This versatile singer was performing with several popular
bands in and around Moratuwa, his home town since his school days.
Lalith was
a popular drummer and he played with many bands at star class hotels
in 80's and later travelled to Europe with other Lankan musicians.
In early days Rohitha and Rohan Jayalath of 'Jayasri' started their
stint in Austria with Lalith.
While residing
in Austria, Lalith studied music further and mastered the art of
singing. But later he developed an interest in Sinhala songs and
music and started to study. It is fortunate enough as a result of
his interest, the contribution towards the industry benefited.
There are few
others too, who have contributed towards this project 'Pappa'. One
of them is an up coming young female vocalist Nirosha Shilani Pathirana.
Her dedication effort has immensely contributed towards the progress
of this song.
"She has
done her part as the Chief Organizer in addition to being a female
co-vocalist and in acting. Nirosha has taken part in several teledramas
and is a bright student of famous actress, Anoja Weerasinghe."
Lalith said
In addition,
her sisters Maduka and Mallika have associated in this CD as female
co-vocalists and in acting too.
"The most
prominent character of this, is the role of "Father",
played by non other than Berty Gunatilleke. Performing the character
of "Father" in this song, he has really living in the
character. I think Berty is the ideal person for this character
and I made the correct choice" Lalith explained.
Berty has given
his whole heartedly blessing to this new song and has shown appreciation
of being able to contribute his services.
Hemasiri Halpita
penned the other three songs of this CD. The CD was recorded at
