Rashika,( daughter of well-known couple Ramani and Ranjit Fernando) and Timothy James Scott celebrated their wedding at St. Theresa’s Church, Thimbirigasyaya last week in a fairytale setting. The bride and groom, both doctors had flown out from England just days before the ceremony.

Rashika looked radiant in her bridal saree of silvery beige tissue worked in silver and mother of pearl sequins. The pleats of the saree, cut on the flare were beautifully draped. Her bouffant veil was in tulle and she carried a bridal bouquet of roses, tuberoses and silverfern. She wore diamonds and pearls for jewellery.

Bridesmaids Rathi, Sharika, Amra and Anita wore sarees of the same shade as the bride with worked jackets in lilac with silver sequins and thread work.

Flower girls Louise and Suzi too were in silvery hues.

A special feature of the church decor was a 50 metre white cotton cloth carpet stretching from the front steps up to the altar. The fabric was painted in silver by Michael Wijesuriya.

Lucien de Silva created a wild hedge of long grass mixed with tiny white Michaelmas daises and Madonna lilies mixed with fairy lights, along the aisle. The altar was a mass of Madonna lilies.

Janaki de Soysa did the decor for the reception hall for a sit down dinner laid out by the Colombo Hilton. The table decor was white lotus and arum lillies. Lively dancing went on to the music of "Friends in Harmony."

Cricketers and their wives mingled with celebrated designers and fashion personalities. Scores of champagne corks popped when the bridal retinue entered the hall and the celebrations began.
