New Committee
to steer HCIMA to 2004
Hotel Catering International Management Association (HCIMA) Sri
Lanka International group had their 11th annual General Meeting
on May 9 at Holiday Inn.
Chairman Eraj
Abey-wardena of Colombo Plaza was re-elected as the new Chairman
for the year 2003/2004.
Shanthi Kumar
of Holiday Inn too was re- elected as the Senior Vice Chairman,
while Ronald Perera, the General Manager of Hotel Sapphire became
the vice Chairman of the new executive committee.
Keerthi Wickremasinghe
of Berjaya Mount Royal Hotel was re-elected as the Secretary and
S. Anandarajah of Galle Treasuree Face Hotel was elected Treasurer.
Renuka Jayamanne too re-elected to her chair as the Assistant Secretary.
The Chief guest
of the ceremony was Mr Prema Cooray and US Ambassador Ashley Wills
came as the guest of honor.
The Hotel Catering
International Management Association of UK was formed amalgamating
the Hotel and Catering Institute and the Institutional Management
Association in 1971. It brought together the common interests of
both the public and the private interests in the hospitality industry.
The main purpose
of the Association is to identify, promote and maintain the highest
in the professional and ethical standards in the International Hotel
and Catering Industry.
HCIMA has 24,000
members in over 100 countries, membership grades are designed to
assist career progress and reflect each stage of professional development,
from student to chief executive.
The HCIMA Sri
Lanka International Group was ajudged the best International Group
for the year 2001.
According to
HCIMA, their Business plan is to adhere to the criteria of the head
office to ensure our commitment to be a number one professional
body in the Hospitality Industry.
The business
plan included the following: Personal Recognition, Membership Development,
Professional Development, Image building/PR activities, Publications,
Media Publications, International Relations, Fund Raising and to
organize three fellowship activities for the year.
