Colombo-based US diplomats quizzed
Two more US diplomats who served in the Colombo mission now rocked
with a multi-million rupee visa scam have been held by Federal Agents
in that country, The Sunday Times learns.
Bill Hove,
the head of the Consulate Section of the US embassy some months
ago and now working at the State Department in Washington DC was
arrested as investigations continued.
Mr. Howe's
predecessor, Chris Benson now in Seoul has been interrogated, according
to reports reaching Colombo.
A US embassy
spokesman said they had no further information following the sudden
arrest of Rober Johnson and his wife Long Lee, both of whom were
serving in Colombo. According to their indictment the US embassy
in Colombo dished out visas for money. Many of the Visa recipients
were Vietnamese, Indians and Sri Lankans.
