PATA charity ride for flood victims

Sri Lanka's corporate sector has been urged to join the Pacific Asia Travel Association (PATA) Charity Bike Ride to raise money towards the flood relief victims on Sunday, July 6 in Kalutara. The main objective of this project is to raise up to Rs. 1 million or more towards the flood relief efforts, particularly to reconstruct and rebuild the homes and lives of those affected by the floods.

PATA will utilize the funds towards the various rebuilding projects organized in the worst affected areas.

Organizers expect at least 50 corporate teams of five riders each, to participate and raise sponsorship from their companies as well as from their friends and colleagues. Sports clubs, individual participants and family groups are also encouraged to join in these efforts to generate funds, by means of donations and sponsorships, whilst also enjoying a fun day out riding through the countryside on the National Cycle Trail.

The start and finish point for the charity ride will be the Mermaid Hotel and Club, Kalutara. The festivities will continue through the early afternoon ending with a presentation of gifts and prizes for riders in random categories including, the funkiest costumed team, the best decorated bike, the oldest rider, the youngest rider, teams and riders raising the highest sponsorship and last to finish of course!

Details of the Charity Ride Entry and Sponsorship forms are available from the PATA Secretariat at the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce, Sri Lanka Tourist Board, HSBC Branches, Keells Supermarkets, Barefoot and The Laundromat.
