against a fighting John Keells outfit in their semi final clash
at Braybrooke Place yesterday.
Needing to
score 195 for victory the Bankers were sitting pretty at 150 for
4 wickets before a double strike by medium pacer Thilina Thushara
where he picked up Thilan Samaraweera(33) and skipper Sampath Perera
followed by a smart piece of fielding by P Abeygunasekera which
sent back Kumar Sangakkara (47) tilted the scales in favour of John
Keells. However a gritty 22 by Kaushalya Weeraratne brought the Bankers
within sight of victory.
Their 9 th wicket
pair needed to score eight runs for victory in the last over and
they managed just seven before another run out saw the bankers needing
one run for victory in the last ball. However medium pacer Mirando
managed a dot ball that ensured the game ended up in a tie.Despite
the result Seylan were through to the finals after earning more
points than Keells in the League games that were completed last
week.
