Sumithra’s new ‘Sakman Maluwa’ nears completion
To mark the seventy fifth year in the film industry, Ceylon Theatres Limited has come out with a brand new film ‘Sakman Maluwa’ (‘The Garden’) directed by Sumithra Peiris. This is Sumithra’s eighth cinematic creation and the movie is based on a short story titled ‘The Garden’ by Godffrey Gunathilake.

The screenplay for the movie is by Dr. Lester James Peiris and dialogue is by Tissa Abeysekera. Music for ‘Sakman Maluwa’ is by maestro W.D. Amaradeva. Sanath Gunathilake, Kanchana Mendis, Vasanthi Chathurani, Irangani Serasinghe, Daya Tennakoon, Dinidu Jagoda star in this movie. ‘Sakman Maluwa’ will be released in early November at the Regal Theatre.

‘Mawathe Api’ : Tele series on traffic rules
‘Mawathe Api’, telecast every Tuesday at 7.30 pm on Rupavahini is an educational teledrama series. It highlights the code of pedestrian behaviour showing the correct and incorrect behavioural patterns.

Nimanthi Porage, Wijeratne Warakagoda, Pramudhi Karunaratne, Winnie Weththasingha, Saranapala Jayasuriya, Udeni Chandrasiri, Saman Gunawardana, Hemantha Prasad, Ananda Athukorala, Anula Warunasuriya, Srimathi Rasadari, Deepika Sandanayaka are some of the popular artistes that act in this series.

Script is by Sarath Dharmasiri, Nuwan Sanuranka is art director Henry Premaratne is make up artist and Amaratunga Atapattu is the production executive. Anuradha Suranjan is assistant director for the series, while music is composed by Sarath Wickrama.

Hasantha Kumara Kobawaka wrote the lyrics to the songs sung by Edward Jayakody. Editing is by Sunanda Weerasinghe and Anil Perera, Camera direction is by Gunatilaka Weerasuriya. “Mawathe Api” is produced by ‘Salasine’ and it is sponsored by Road Development Authority.
