Cricketer's car kills woman

A car driven by a Sri Lankan national cricketer ran off the road in the Kadawata area, killing a woman and injuring her son yesterday morning.

The cricketer, Kaushalya Lokuaracchi, who was driving the vehicle had allegedly veered off the road at the 13th milepost at Kadawata and hit the woman and her son around 4 a.m. The cricketer was returning to his house at Kadawata after a function.

The woman had been waiting to board a bus to Anuradhapura with her son who is a Customs officer. The cricketer was produced before the Gampaha Magistrate and bailed out.
