Young professionals on Rotary exchange
Each year, Rotary International Foundation provides approximately 4 million US Dollars for the exchange of young professionals between Rotary nations to promote world peace and understanding through professional development.

Sri Lanka has participated in the Group Study Exchange (GSE) programme for over 20 years by sending groups of young professionals led by a senior Rotarian to many parts of the world.

Since last year Rotary International has paired Sri Lanka with the United Kingdom for the purpose of the GSE programme. Last year, a team of four young professionals went to Yorkshire for five weeks.

This year the Rotary International District of Sri Lanka has selected four young professionals to represent Sri Lanka in Essex, U.K. They are Fayaz Hudah, Marketing Manager at eCorp Solutions, Shanaka Cooray, Attorney-at-Law, working in Mr. J. Romesh De Silva, PC’s, chambers, Chandani Jayatilleke - Business Editor at Ceylon Daily News and Ishanie Mendis - Business Development Executive at Linea Clothing (Pvt.) Ltd.

The selections were made from a pool of over 100 applications received by different Rotary Clubs throughout Sri Lanka in response to advertisements placed by Rotary International in the national media. The selection committee consisted of the Rotary District Governor, the Rotary District Chairman - GSE and other Rotary officials as required by Rotary International.

During their stay in the UK, the group will participate in a number of vocational visits and cultural tours while taking part in several Rotary events. They will also make a presentation at the Rotary District Conference.

Rotarian Mohan Abeysinghe who is a Director of Swedish Trading Company has been selected as team leader.
