Two
major bills next week
Two important debates will take place when Parliament meets next
week including one on the defaulting of state bank loans and the
proposed privatisation of state banks.
In addition,
the adjourned debate on the re-imposition of the death penalty will
also take place. The Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (Amendment)
Bill, which seeks to prohibit the use of explosives inclusive of
dynamite or other noxious or harmful materials or substances, for
killing fish or other aquatic resources, will also be taken up for
debate.
This Bill also
seeks to restrict the right of a magistrate to grant bail to persons
charged for specific offences under certain sections of this Act
and also to increase the penalties for use and possession of dynamite
and use of other harmful fishing methods. |
