Isipathana
to clash in under 13, 15 and 19 Premier trophy finals
By Shamseer Jaleel
Isipathana Maha Vidyalaya will be all out to add three more trophies
from the Premier Trophy rugby tournament finals which will be worked
off at CR & FC today. The lads from Havelock town who have shown
consistent form this season bagged the two sevens trophies organized
by Milo and the Singer Sri Lankan sevens.
They outclassed
the Thomians by 39-13 in one of the semi finals and will ace the
Wesley side in the finals. Earlier in the league the "Green
Shirts" edged out Wesley by 20-15 and will be going in to this
game as clear favourites.
In the under
13 and the under 15 games the lads from Havelock town should have
things their own way if they play to their true potential. In the
under 17 game the lads from Kandy who are participating for the
first time in this tournament have the edge over Wesley. This will
be a good experience for the Trinity college juniors, as most of
these lads will don the colourful first fifteen jersey.
In the club
section it should be a closely fought out game as there is nothing
between the two sides. The park club with their Tongans dishing
out excellent rugby this season and their school leavers namely
former Trinitian Saliya Kumara and former Thomian Thajudeen are
the players to watch.
The Red Shirts
who are no push overs have some very good young talent with experienced
Shamly Nawas leading the side ably supported by Kishan Musafer,
Mohamed Mushtaq, Haren Kaluarachchi, Sumedha Jayasinghe and Megara
Madupatabendi are all out to give the Red Shirts their first trophy
this season. |
