Swinly on ‘Star Parade’
Swinly
Perera, 15-year-old, who released her debut album “Swinly”,
last December at the age of 14, is a versatile girl performing on
the Piano, electronic Key Board, Guitar, Violin and Flute, and also
accompanying her singing.
Swinly will
be featured on “Star Parade” on the SLBC, where the
Sri Lankan talent will be featured, at 1.00 p.m. on Sunday, September
28. The programme is produced by Nalin de Silva and presented by
the popular Radio and TV personality Bevil Palihavadana.
A wide and
well-loved selection of popular vocal and instrumental favourites
ranging from “Basame Mucho”, “Misty”, “La
Cucaracha”, “Memories”, “Take Five”,
plus two original works is included in her CD ‘Swinly’.
All Keyboard
arrangements, vocal harmony rhythm and multi track performance on
all instruments including vocal arrangements was done all by herself.
She has become the first Sri Lankan to complete a CD by her own
at that age.
She started her musical career at the age of 3 and gave her first
public performance at the age of 5. Her first song was sung with
Clifford Richards for an audio cassette at the age of 6. Since then
she has toured many countries and has performed at various concerts
.She also a member of the popular orchestra “Friends in Harmony”.
A student of
Bishop’s College, Swinly is also qualified in Piano, Violin,
and in Singing. Currently doing her Grade 7 Piano and Grade 6 Violin
in Royal School of Music, London and reading for Performers Certificate
in Sining at Trinty College of Music in London. She has donated
CDs to her school, where the proceeds were channelled for the school
funds.
She has won
many all island prizes for her outstanding performances. She was
also awarded the best instrumentalist overall and the best junior
vocalist at “Search 2000”, all island contests organized
by TV Times and also at the Yamaha Music Contest.
Swinly’s
CDs’ will be available at ‘’Vibrations”,
all “Torana” outlets, “Mabrock” and at the
Bishop’s College.
